    Dr. Mellasenah Y. Morris

    Dr. Mellasenah Y. Morris earned a bachelor’s of music degree in performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music and a master’s of music degree in piano pedagogy and a doctor of musical arts degree in piano performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.

    Since giving a debut recital at Carnegie Recital Hall, Morris’ performances have included solo and lecture recitals throughout the East Coast and Mid-West, as well as at St. Martin in the Fields, London, and numerous appearances as an accompanist and chamber music performer, and soloist with orchestras.

    Along with a varied performing career, Morris has remained active as a music educator, teaching at several colleges and universities. As an administrator, Morris has served as dean of the School of Music at Alabama State University, director of the schools of music at James Madison University and the Ohio State University, and dean of the Conservatory and deputy director of the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.
