Ways to Give

We want to make it easy to give. You can make a gift to the annual fund, scholarship fund, or our endowment, the Fund for the Future. You can even make a bequest in your will.

Gifts can be unrestricted or can support a particular project that inspires you.

You can make a gift online or mail a check to the Baltimore School for the Arts Foundation, 712 Cathedral Street, Baltimore, MD 21201. (Please indicate in the memo line of the check any special designations for the gift.)

Matching Gifts

You may be able to double or even triple your gift with a matching gift from your employer or your spouse’s employer. Please inquire at your Human Resources Department.

Gifts of Stock

Securities are often the best way to make a gift to the school. There is a two-fold benefit to making a gift of this nature: a charitable deduction for the current fair market value and no personal capital gains taxes on the appreciation.

Support the Library

With a minimum donation of $25, you can also buy a book, DVD, play script, music score, or compact disc for the school’s library. You can honor someone’s birthday, anniversary, wedding, or graduation or memorialize a loved one. Each item receives a personalized bookplate and an acknowledgement is sent to the donor and the honoree.

Other Ways to Support BSA

If you have a Target Red Card, please enroll in their school giving program. If you shop at Giant Food, please register with the store so that BSA will receive credit: our school ID is 01212. You can also sign up online. We participate in the United Way’s Maryland (Code 1021) and Combined Charity Campaigns (Code 2132).

Fund for the Future

In the face of uncertain public funding, we have raised our initial $10 million endowment goal to a minimum of $15 million to support all of our arts programing, including TWIGS and our exciting new Charles C. Baum Film and Visual Storytelling Department (lead donors Patricia and Mark Joseph). Our goal is ambitious and essential for safeguarding the future of the school.

We are grateful for the generous support of so many in helping us to build BSA’s endowed fund. We also hope to welcome many more donors in the coming years to help us reach our goal of $15 million!

The Legacy at BSA

When you make a gift in your will to the Baltimore School for the Arts, you leave a legacy of generosity that has a dramatic impact on the lives of our students. And you can do this through a bequest without changing your current financial situation.

A bequest is a deferred gift which takes effect after your lifetime. It is flexible, so if your situation changes and you need to alter your plans, you can. It’s also simple. With the help of your attorney, a bequest can be added to your will or living trust in as little as one sentence.

Consider two common types of bequests:

  • A specific bequest is a gift to BSA of a designated sum of money or other asset.
  • A residuary bequest enables you to give what is left of your estate after others have received their share, and it allows your gift to BSA to remain proportionate to your estate size.
